Portrait of David Taylor

I’m David Taylor. Software developer, and Unity asset creator.

I’ve been passionate about coding and technology since studying BSc Games Programming at Staffordshire University, where I graduated with a first-class degree in 2021.

Whether its crafting Unity Asset Store tools, experimenting with AI, or optimizing a game engine, I thrive on problem-solving and creating tools that make life easier for developers. My projects often start as challenges—like building a RIFF tool in a single evening—that evolve into useful tools or fun games.

During my career, I also had the opportunity to work as a part-time lecturer at Staffordshire University, sharing my knowledge with aspiring developers. The experience of mentoring students, guiding them through complex problems, and seeing them grow and improve was incredibly rewarding. It reminded me of the importance of knowledge-sharing in shaping the next generation of developers.

In my spare time, I explore the outdoors on cycling adventures or 3D print ideas that inspire me. Balancing creative and technical projects has always been my way of blending work with play.

Today, I’m focused on sharing my skills through side projects like TaylorMadeCode, where I create Unity assets and other software tools, while continuing my work at Inspired Games. I’m also committed to making powerful tools that traditionally require technical knowledge accessible to everyone. A perfect example is my suite of converter websites powered by ffmpeg.wasm, offering free, local, private audio, video, and photo tools to all. By leveraging technology, I aim to bridge the gap and empower users with intuitive, privacy-respecting solutions.
